Method for operating a navigation device

The method involves calculating and indicating a map view (03) at a surface (02) of a display i.e. multi-touch display, of an indicating device (01) i.e. LCD screen. Two map sections (14, 15) are selected by detection of two selection points (04, 05), where the points are determined by input gestures over the display surface. Change in a distance between the points is detected. Another map view (03b) is calculated and indicated such that the selected map sections are represented as closed together or away from each other according to the change in the distance of the points.
