Method for operating a navigation system

The method involves downloading a part of vectors from a map data storage device in a representation producing device, and producing the vectors by the producing device depending on producing instructions, where the instructions are dependent on a map view operation mode. A bird's eye perspective terrain map view (29) is produced in the operation mode by one of the instructions. A height value of the part of the vectors is changed depending on a dynamic correction factor, and the terrain map view produced based on the part of the vectors are outputted by a display device.
