THIN FILM ELECTROCHEMICAL CELL FOR LITHIUM POLYMER BATTERIES AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR

An electrochemical cell comprising: a. a positive electrode including: i. a current collector (12) sheet having a pair of opposite surfaces and a pair of opposite edges (13,15); ii. a layer of positive electrode material (14) disposed on each surface of the current collector sheet; b. a polymer electrolyte separator encapsulating both layers of positive electrode material (14) and one (13) of the pair of edges (13,15) of said current collector sheet (12), thereby leaving the other edge (15) of said current collector sheet (12) exposed; and c. at least one negative electrode (18) disposed over said polymer electrolyte separator (16).
