Method for operating a driver assistance system in a motor vehicle and motor vehicle

The method involves determining a threshold value of a driving state variable indicating an actual physical limit area of a motor vehicle (1) and a warning value lying within the limit area from technical data of the motor vehicle, measurement data specifying actual driving and road conditions and data specifying road curve. A current value of the driving state variable is determined. A warning is issued to a driver when the state variable lies between the warning value and the threshold value. The threshold value of the state variable is determined as a driver specific warning value.
