A synthetic fibre (53) comprises a plurality of filament cores (51) embedded in a fibre body (52). Each filament (51) has a higher melting temperature than the fibre body (52). The fibre body (52) is made of a synthetic material, for example PP, PA, PES, PE, etc. The filaments are made of a material different from the material of the fibre body, for instance glass fibre.
