The method involves determining a road marking or a dimension for an angle between two virtual lines in the image, which is commonly coming from a defined starting point. The starting point corresponds to the position of the camera (7). The one of the lines runs to a detected image point or image section in the vehicle (1) and the other runs to the lane marker. The lines cut the image point or the image section and the lane marker at common horizontal image plane. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle for detecting a reeve process or veer process of a vehicle running ahead.
