A material for a fuel electrode of a solid oxide fuel cell with which volume change of the fuel electrode during performance of oxidation-reduction cycles is reduced as compared to conventional materials. The fuel electrode material includes a powder containing: (a) at least one of nickel and nickel oxide, (b) at least one of titanium oxide (IV) and a titanium source capable of changing into titanium oxide (IV) by heat treatment in air, (c) a solid electrolyte exhibiting oxide ion-conductivity. The fuel electrode material is sintered to prepare the fuel electrode, which is provided for the solid oxide fuel cell. The resulting fuel cell shows a stable power generation even after exposure of the fuel electrode to oxidation-reduction cycles.
