The device has a fixed assembly (1) on which is mounted, a movable panel (2) that slides along a rail (11) mounted in upper and lower parts of the assembly. The panel is moved from a closing plane to a sliding plane using a hood latch bolt (21) intended to cooperate with a strike (111) arranged in the rail. The bolt is carried by a rod (22) comprising a handle that permits the actuation of the bolt. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle comprising a bay closing device.
