A control device for a turbocharger with an electric motor includes a turbocharger (11); an electric motor (11b) which can increase a supercharging pressure by running a compressor (11a) of the turbocharger (11) based on an amount of electric power to be supplied by a battery (22); required output power detecting means (15; 18) for detecting an output power required of the internal combustion engine (1); electric power amount setting means (16) for setting an amount of electric power to be supplied to the electric motor (11b); and electric motor controlling means (16, 21) for controlling the electric motor (11b) based on the amount of electric power to be supplied which is set by the electric power amount setting means (16). The electric power amount setting means (16) sets the amount of electric power to be supplied to a maximum amount of electric power in a beginning state of an electric power supply to the electric motor (11b) subject to the condition that the required output power detected by the required output power detecting means (15; 18) is equal to or larger than a predetermined value, a voltage of the battery (22) is equal to or larger than a predetermined value, and a temperature of the electric motor (11b) is equal to or lower than a predetermined value.
