Method of using a fuel system of an internal combustion engine and fuel system

The method involves driving displacement element of a fuel pump by a driving device. Fuel is promoted to a high pressure range by a promotion phase. Displacement element is driven in such a way that during displacement movement a constant phase (B) is present in displacement direction of maximum speed (62) of the displacement element. An independent claim is also included for the fuel system of internal combustion engine.
