Air inlet control method for an internal combustion engine and automotive vehicle for applying this method

The method involves estimating total mass of gas admitted in combustion chambers of an internal combustion engine. A fresh air flow is measured, and total mass of estimated gas and the measured fresh air flow are provided as input values in a regulator that controls an inlet of the engine. The total mass of input gas is obtained from individual estimation of total mass of input gas in each combustion chamber of the engine. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle having an internal combustion engine provided with an input gas collector and a storage and calculation unit for implementing an air intake system control method.
