Airbag module

The airbag module (10) for an occupant restraint system of a motor vehicle has a gas generator (12) for the filling of an airbag (14), and an active valve with a valve component (20) which shuts off the airbag module's outflow opening (18) in the closed position, and opens it in the open position. The valve component during opening is moved in the direction of the inner chamber (26) of the airbag module. A protective device is provided which during the opening prevents a contact between the valve component and the airbag.
