An automotive piston engine has an air inlet to an air filter inside a two-part box housing (3) with a box half around the unfiltered air and a box half (4) around the filtered air (5). The inlet side has a suction zone (3") with air scoop (6') located above the engine radiator. The air inlet has an air flow meter.
