ADJUSTABLE TWIST BEAM TUBE FORMING DIE
DRIVE
May 24, 2018
A die used to form a metal tube into a tubular twist beam part having a U-shaped torsion section is provided. The die includes a punch and side form blocks which simultaneously engage a metal tube and form the metal tube into the tubular twist beam part The form blocks have a curved profile which depends on the desired profile of the tubular twist beam part to be formed. The die includes horizontal spacer blocks and vertical spacer blocks restricting movement of the punch and form blocks The spacer blocks can have various different dimensions and can be easily removed and replaced to adjust the closing position of the die and thus form multiple tubular twist beam parts each having a different dimension and different roll rate.
