The plate (26) has a windshield wiper blade supporting and driving mechanism. The plate is mounted on a cross-piece (2) of a vehicle by a screw and bolts. The screw traverses fixation holes (69) provided in a wall of the plate. The fixation holes allow to position the plate against the cross piece. A peripheral zone closes an opening of the cross-piece. A passage hole allows passage of a wiper blade supporting and driving axle (60). An independent claim is also included for a method of mounting a windshield wiper blade supporting and driving mechanism on a crosspiece of a motor vehicle.
