Marking device

The marking device has a receptacle unit into which a receiver can be inserted, e.g. by a clip, and a marking unit with a marking device for producing a marking on a reference surface. The marking unit has a marking device that can be positioned relative to the receptacle unit and/or the receiver. The receiver may be an optical signal receiver.
