Reading lamp for a vehicle

The reading light (10) for use in a vehicle may be mounted above a passenger seat. It incorporates a white light LED (22) mounted on the underside of a cooling device (24) and protruding through a central aperture in multilayer reflector (18). The reflector has an outer housing (12) with an inner reflective layer (20). The light exit opening (16) of the reflector is closed with a flat glass plate (14).
