Cover for a luggage compartment

The bootspace (18) of a motor vehicle is closed off by a rear hatch door (12), and has a roll-up type cover element (28) rolled at least partially onto a winding shaft (32) which is integrated in the rear hatch door. In the operating position the cover element is fixed to the vehicle by its front end and connected to the rear hatch door by its rear end so that during the opening of the rear hatch door the cover element is pivoted and rolled off the winding shaft.
