A vehicle door having a handle situated on the outside of the door, wherein an operator control element is integrated into the handle, a lock, by way of which the vehicle door can be secured in its closed position, being electrically unlockable by the operator control element. The handle is movably from an inoperative position (R) to at least one operating position (B), the lock being mechanically unlockable by moving the handle element from the inoperative position (R) to the operating position (B). Additionally, an operating device is configured to move the handle element from the inoperative position (R) to an intermediate position situated between the inoperative position (R) and the operating position (B) and can be held in the intermediate position.
