Convertible vehicle with automatically driven roll-over protection

DRIVE January 11, 2006

The convertible motor vehicle (1) has a safety roll bar (2) with a hazard detection system which automatically extends especially when a limiting side inclination is exceeded. The roll bar can be transferred into the protective position outside of the hazard detection system by transferring the vehicle into a defined preselectable driving mode which may be a cross country mode. The driving mode is set by a pre-established transmission influence, especially a reduction in transmission ratio or engaging of all-wheel drive, or by a pre-established chassis influence, especially by increasing the fording depth of the vehicle.
