The machine (50) has a rotation axis (4) and rotor (25), an annular flow channel (13) for a flowing working medium extending in the direction of the rotation axis and enclosing it concentrically, at least one electrical machine (45) between the flow channel and rotation axis consisting of a rotatable component (37) arranged on the rotor and opposite a fixed component (43). The rotor turns about a fixed axle (3) on which the fixed component is mounted. An independent claim is also included for a method of operating an inventive flow machine.
