Steering wheel with operating element

The steering wheel (1) has a hub (5) which may contain an airbag and has two diametrically opposed spokes (3,4) holding a circular wheel rim (2). The steering wheel rim has twist grips (7-9) at the 2 o' clock and 10 o' clock positions and at the 4 o' clock and 8 o' clock positions. The twist grips are flexible and rotate on coil springs on narrow portions of the rim. Cam surfaces at the ends of the twist grips operate electrical switches.
