A radio base station for mobile cellular telephony comprising: - a radio transceiver system; - plants for generating electric energy from solar energy and wind energy; - a battery set comprising a plurality of cells, that cooperates with said plants for storing the generated electric energy and feeding said radio transceiver system; - a monitoring device for monitoring said battery set and preventing malfunctions adapted to actively interact in a selective way with each cell of the battery set so as to maintain the charge in each cell within a preset deviation from a predetermined average voltage.
