Fuel injection device

The fuel injection device includes a fuel injector (1) acted on by high pressure fuel from a high-pressure source (2) and a metering valve (32) subject to the pressure in an injection valve member control cavity (44). The injection valve member control cavity can be emptied via an outlet throttle device (47), which has a smaller throttle cross section than the inlet throttle device via which the injection valve member control cavity is filled.
