DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING A MOTOR-VEHICLE SERVO-ASSISTED BRAKE

DRIVE November 9, 2005
Source
The device comprises: an actuator unit (30, 32, 34, 36) arranged to apply a tension force on a pair of operating cables (12a, 12b) provided with a sheath (14a, 14b); and a force sensing unit (50) for providing a signal indicative of the force applied the sheath (14a) by either of the two operating cables (12a). The force sensing unit (50) comprises: a pack of Belleville springs (58) coupled to an end portion (22a) of the sheath (14a) and arranged to deform as a result of the tension force applied by the actuator unit (30, 32, 34, 36) on the operating cable (12a); and a Hall position sensor (64, 66, 68) for detecting the displacement of the end portion (22a) of the sheath (14a) as a result of the deformation of the pack of springs (58).
