The vehicle's heating system has a heating appliance (12) with a burner section (16) for the burning of fuel, and heat exchanger section (24) for the transmission of heat to the medium to be heated. A control unit (14) is provided for the heating appliance and comprises a monitoring system to monitor the operation of the heating appliance, and means of information to produce maintenance information relevant to maintenance to be carried out in dependence upon the monitoring. An independent claim is included for a method for the operating of a vehicle's heating system.
