Method for increasing the torque in a direct injection internal-combustion engine
DRIVE
November 2, 2005
The method involves having gas exchange equipped with a supercharger with in and exhaust valves steered. Apart from a main injection, within their frameworks the fuel is made available for the main burn, with a post injection made in the cylinders of the internal-combustion engine. The post injection is supplied after-injected amount of fuel having additional combustion air, which does not originate from the original cylinder and supplied separately. The additional combustion air is supplied totally or partly during a valve overlap phase, with both intake valves and the exhaust valves opened, due to a positive pressure gradient made available.
