Locking device for a vehicle, particularly for a vehicle seat

The locking device (11) for especially the seat of a motor vehicle has a locking pawl (21) mounted in a housing (13) and interacting with a mating element (B). At least one locking element (31) prevents the pawl from opening in the case of an emergency. The locking device consists completely or almost completely of plastic. Individual components of the locking device have fitting parts of a material different to plastic, whereby these parts are at least predominantly covered by plastic. An independent claim is included for a seat in a vehicle which has a locking device as specified in the invention for the locking of the seat back to the structure of the vehicle.
