A bumper device for a vehicle

A bumper device (2) for use with a vehicle (1), which bumper device provides a contact zone (6) between the bumper device (2) and a foreign body (7) during impact between a vehicle (1) and such a foreign body (7). The bumper device (2) comprises a housing (3), and the housing (3) accommodates an elongated free body (4) arranged to build up a major part of the force arising in the contact zone (6) during impact by means of the mass-moment of inertia of the bumper device (2).
