Method for real-time guidance of a terrestrial vehicle equipped with an off-board navigation system
DRIVE
September 21, 2005
The process involves calculating a round-trip latency time between a terrestrial vehicle and an external navigation server, and estimating distance covered by the vehicle, during the time. Position coordinates of the vehicle are corrected based on the distance. Guidance instructions are transmitted from the server towards the vehicle to enable proper action of a user of the vehicle, when the coordinates correspond to a vehicle position. An independent claim is also included for an external guidance and navigation server for transmitting guidance instruction to a terrestrial vehicle.
