Control unit for a motor vehicle

An operating unit (2) for control of motor vehicle functions, especially heating and climate control, comprises a transparent and magnifying knob (9) that is turned or moved on the unit so as to cover a given function symbol (8). The symbol then appears to the operator in an enlarged form and that function is applied.
