Temperature regulating system for a vehicle

The vehicle heating system comprises a stand-alone heater (14) using the same fuel as the vehicle. This heats a liquid and a heat exchanger (12) transfers heat from the liquid into air passing into the vehicle. A valve system allows the heated liquid to pass through a zone (28) near the cylinder head (26) without passing through a second zone (32) near the engine block (30) : An independent claim is included for a method for operating the vehicle heating system.
