Reliquefying the gas phase accumulating in a storage container comprises removing the gas from the storage container, and heating, compressing, cooling and expanding the gas. Only a partial flow (4) of the gas removed from the storage container is subjected to compression. Preferred Features: The gas to be reliquefied is hydrogen. The partial flow (3) not subjected to compression undergoes an energy-converting process. The energy obtained is used to drive the gas flow removed from the storage container for the compression.
