Method of inflating an airbag and airbag module for use in this method

Inflating an airbag of a safety system of a vehicle uses a gas generator containing a pyrotechnic propellant comprising one or more organic fuels and ammonium perchlorate as oxidant and 0-10 wt.% usual additives. After activation the propellant releases a gas containing a small amount of hydrochloric acid. The airbag has a coating on its inner surface. The gas is fed to the airbag and the hydrochloric acid is neutralized or absorbed on the coating. An independent claim is also included for an airbag module.
