Trailer hitch for motor vehicles

DRIVE June 22, 2005
Source
The trailer coupling for private motor vehicles has a housing (4) which can pivot on a bearing component (5) fastened to it, the drive for which comprises a first worm wheel fixed on the vehicle, a second worm wheel mounted in the housing, and a worm shaft extending tangentially to the two worm wheels. The worm shaft is coupled by means of a cage of a differential gear (7) to a rotational drive (6). The cage has at least one planetary gear which meshes with a bevel wheel rotationally fixed on the worm shaft and with a bevel wheel loosely mounted on the worm shaft.
