Motor vehicle navigation device with improved information for the driver

Vehicle navigation device has a processor, GPS receiver, memory and information output unit. The memory has a memory area in which traffic laws specific to a federal state are stored. The processor controls the output unit so that traffic laws for a specific state are output dependent on the vehicle location, i.e. particularly when a state boundary is crossed.
