The device for the protecting of persons in the event of a frontal impact on a vehicle has a raising element with a housing (1) fixed to the vehicle's body and within which is guided a lifting element (2) which is sensor controlled by an energy accumulator to extend and raise the front bonnet. The bonnet lock has a first locking element (9) rigidly connected to the bonnet, and a second element (8) movably mounted in a lock housing and connected to the lifting element. The lifting element is constructed simultaneously as the lock housing on the body side.
