Driving assist system for supporting lane keeping of a vehicle and an apparatus for controlling the driving assist system

The driver assistance system writes information regarding the state of the system into a memory device (2) and additionally monitors the state of at least one protection device (3) in the motor vehicle. The information about the state of the protection device is used to control the writing of the driver assistance system state information into the memory device. An independent claim is also included for a device for operating an inventive system.
