The component (1), e.g. a seat, incorporating an airbag (3), has a foam body (2) with a cavity (4) to receive the airbag system, and a covering (6) in two sections (7, 8) joined by a seam (9) that tears when (3) is inflated. (9) Is offset relative to (4)'s opening (10), and parts of (6) are lined with separating layers (13, 18) of an adhesive film material impermeable to the passage of the foam. The tearable seam is offset relative to the cavity's opening (10), and the second and third parts of the covering are lined with separating layers (13, 18) of an adhesive film material that is impermeable to the passage of the foam. It also has a sleeve (15) extending along at least part of the cavity's side walls.
