Display and method of displaying in a vehicle

The display device (10) has an operating device for switching to various display modes and is controlled by a computer, whereby the display device has at least one selectable function. The computer and the display device are designed so that the at least one selectable function is shown as an interactive object (26) in a context defined by the display mode in at least one display mode. An independent claim is also included for a display method for a motor vehicle.
