The guide rail for a motor vehicle sliding window has a lower casing (6) and an upper casing (7) with an insert (8) between them. The upper and lower casings are joined at connecting points (14,15). The upper and lower casings can be glued or welded, especially ultrasonically. The casings can have reinforcing ribs.
