Gas generator

An automotive airbag restraint system has a gas generator with first and second burning chambers (14, 16), each of which has a cartridge (20) and detonator (18). The two chambers are either side of a gas egress chamber (22) with gas inlets and outlets (28, 29, 24). The chamber (22) is sub-divided into two (32, 34) by a partition disc (30) whose outer margin (38) is only partly in contact with the chamber (22) outer wall (12). Each chamber section (32, 34) is associated with a burner chamber (14, 16). The partition disc (30) mid-section (36) encloses a peripheral zone (38) whose geometry deviates from that of a plane (E) and has a projection (40, 42, 44) extending into the chambers (32, 34).
