Navigation system with determination of a route where consumption is optimized

A vehicle navigation system uses a position location (S3) unit and topographical data and to compute a route (S4) to a user input destination (S1) with time less (S5) than a user input value (S2) and minimum fuel consumption (S6) and uses the selected (S7) values as input to a speed (S8) and separation control unit and to display (S9) fastest, shortest and fuel optimized routes. Independent claims are included for the procedures used by the navigation system.
