An engine with a fuel pump with the ability to purge

The engine has several cylinders in at least one row and associated injection pumps, supply and return lines and a peripheral collecting area arrangement for connecting to a pump chamber (12) with radial connecting channels (16,17) communicating with the feed and return lines. The collecting area arrangement has stacked annular chambers (14,15), each with a connecting channel to the feed or return line. The diametrically opposed regions of the connecting channels are connected by a bypass (18).
