Correcting ohmic resistor (COR) (16) is wired into a branch of a rectifier bridge connection (RBC) (12). A transformer (10) is fed with mains voltage. The RBC with a diode (14) in each bridge branch links onto a secondary winding for the transformer. In one of the bridge branches there is the COR. The other diagonal of the RBC is wired onto a battery (18) charged up via a charger.
