Method of operating a Diesel engine
DRIVE
December 29, 2004
The method involves a low engine load mode (A) with homogeneous combustion of the injected fuel through at least one fuel injection during the compression phase between 180 and 0 degrees before top dead center and exhaust gas feedback at a rate between 40 and 70 per cent and a mean load mode (B) with homogeneous combustion of approx. 50 to 90 per cent , injection during compression between 180 and 0 degrees before TDC and feedback at between 0 and 40 per cent as well as injection of the residual fuel between 0 and 40 degrees before TDC. An independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a diesel engine.
