The rear bench seat (10) is arranged inside the automobile compartment (12) in front of the luggage compartment (14). The seat part (16) is fixed to the vehicle floor (18) and the back (20) is articulated in a lower part (22) on the seat part. In the back upper part (24) are fixings (26) to adjacent bodywork structure lateral elements (28). The fixings comprises transversely opposite locking bolts (40), carried by the back edges, each able to be locked in an associated strike plate (42) part of an element (44) able to move in a vertical plane on the adjacent lateral element in order to provide different inclination adjustments of the back relative to the seat part.
