Pedal assembly that is retractable in the case of a frontal impact on a vehicle

The assembly has a tipper and spacing flange (9) acting on a fixing pin (11) and clamp (12) to release flanges (4, 6) in case of frontal shock. The flanges (4, 6) are released by permitting a movement of a spacer to laterally move the flanges (4, 6) parallel to their axis of rotation. The flanges (4, 6) are released to bring clutch or brake pedal to tilt towards bottom wall of basement.
