The present invention relates to a direct injection type internal combustion engine. The invention aims to provide such an engine having a valve attachment structure whereby the fuel injection valve can be securely attached and assembled efficiently. Therefore, the invention provides a direct injection type internal combustion engine having a fuel rail for supplying fuel to fuel injection valves inserted in valve attachment holes formed in a cylinder head, comprising a valve clamping member of an elastic material having a fixing part for fixing the valve clamping member to a valve attachment boss part of a cylinder head, and a clamp part for clamping a flange part of said injection valve to thereby fix the fuel injection valve on the cylinder head.
