The engine control system (1) is for a turbocharged internal combustion engine (55). The control circuit (40) is connected to a mass flow sensor (60) and various further sensors (65-75) in the exhaust pipe (20). It measures the flow of gas into the turbine (10). The turbine drives an intake air (50) compressor (5) via a shaft (15) and receives a control input (25) from the control circuit.
